The Department of Physics began its journey with an Under Graduate Course in June 1974 enrolling 24 students with English as medium of instruction. In the view of fulfilling the needs and aspiration of rural students, Tamil Medium was introduced in 1979. Within a few years of its inception due to the quality of education provided the strength of the students has sprung to 156. This was possible only due to the faculty member’s dedication. The backbone of the Department i.e. the faculty members always motivate, inspire and guide the students community to improve and enhance their skills not only in academics but also in other scholastic fields. This is proven by ours students achievements every year.

         The motto of the department is to impart an excellent quality education, develop a disciplined and integrated personality in them to reach greater heights.
