The Department of Home Science, Quaid-E-Millath Government College, Chennai- 600 002 offering B.Sc X A Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics was started in the year 1975. In its first year the department functioned at the Chemistry Department and moved into the buildings allotted to it in the following year. Post graduate course in Home Science( M.Sc Home Science-Food Service Management and Dietetics) was started in the year 2015. At present the teaching staff of the department are four in number. They are well qualified to handle undergraduate and post graduate courses.

The Home Science Block is well equipped with classrooms and laboratories. A new PG lab and modular kitchen has been established to train the students in latest food preparation techniques. The labs are well equipped with necessary equipment and students are trained in the use of such equipment.

The Department of Home Science strives to prepare the students holistically by providing Hospitality industry-relevant Knowledge, Entrepreneurial Skills and Aptitude by closely associating with Catering Institutes, Hospitals, fitness centers, Self- help groups and Professional bodies
