Vriksha association activities began on 30.01.23 with a very interesting and informative inaugural address on “Darwin’s Evolutionary Concepts and their Contemporary relevance” by Dr.D.Kandavel Associate Professor of Botany,Government Arts College,Nandanam.This academic year can rightly be called as a year of immerse activities for “VRIKSHA” association.
An educational tour to ooty ,mudhumalai and coonoor from 13.03.23 to 17.03.23 for the PG and final year of UG students (60) accompany with Dr.A.Subhashini,Dr.T.Vimala and Selvi.A.Malliga,Assistant Professors of our department.The visit to Central Potato Research Institute,National Pasteur Institute,Tea Research Factory and Mudhumalai Sanctuary was indeed a golden opportunity for the students to know about the natural wealth of ooty and observe the medicinal plants.
Our PG students from 26.12.22 to 30.12.22 and from 2.01.23 to 6.01.23 undergone internship training at Egmore museum and from 12.12.22 to 16.12.22 attended internship training at Bionym Laboratories at Chennai.
On behalf of celebrating “International day of forest” on 28.12.23 invited Dr.V.Irulandi IFS Chief Conservator of forests (Rtd) to give motivational talk on “Forest and Health” and also we conducted slogan writing competitions among the students.Best slogans were selected and honoured them.
Our staff Dr.D.S.Yasodha received Ph.D. degree on 17.10.22. Dr.D.S.Yasodha and Dr.M.Anbukkarasi attended refresher course from 17.02.23 to 30.03.23.
Scholars have updated their knowledge by attending International,National Seminars and Workshops. M.Jeevitha, S.Meera, T.Kalaiselvi, P.Priyanka, R.Kaviya and V.Sathiya have participated and presented their research papers.M.Jeevitha got 2nd Prize in the International level.
H.Deepa have been awarded Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Dr.A.Subhashini Assistant Professor on 12.01.23 and P.Jayasudha and Badunisha submitted their vPh.D. thesis on 25.05.22 and 23.08.22 under the supervision of Dr.V.Hema malini,Assistant Professor of our department.
Staff members Dr.R.Soruba H.O.D and Associate Professor, Dr.A.Subhashini and Dr.T.Vimala,Assistant Professors of our department have published their research articles.
Our final year UG student G.Prema activity participated in the Kabadi tournament at National level and won overall championship.
P.Rohini third year student participated in running race competition at District level and won the championship.V.Koperundevi, K.Varsha and Mohana Priya are participated NCC-special camp about 10 days at zonal level.
Our staff Dr.T.Vimala and A.Mallika Assistant Professors,on behalf “Enviro club Association” they insisted the students for making “ seed balls” on march 21,2023.
Dr.K.Vijaya Ramesh and Dr.A.Subhashini Assistant Professors of our Department along with 15 students, participated in Government trade fare occasion and distributed free saplings to the public.
